Website
Post by zuraw on Apr 3, 2005, 2:19am

I am thinking of making one. Questions:

- should I? do you think it would be useful?

- what kinds of things would you want to see on it?

ooooh Fender having vision:

how about a site that would have frames, the top part would have a ticker with the latest scores, the bottom part would have the latest news with clickable links so the main page would load the particular news articles. Maybe get some little soccer games we can play when we are killing time, hmmm, that would be a lot of updating though, but then again - I have no life, hehe. What do you guys think?
Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 3, 2005, 2:28pm

Don't think we need a site, but having one would definitely increase traffic, so I give it a yes!
Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Apr 5, 2005, 1:32am

Please guys, I don't care if you have no idea about websites - any input is useful! I have found an ad-free place to host the site (for now at least), please have a look and let me know what you think. Tell me what you think of the menus up top and what you think I could do to make it more attractive.

Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Apr 5, 2005, 2:11am

aint no pc whizzkid but that looks fine to me,as long as people know where we are then thats good.
Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Apr 5, 2005, 4:09am

Yes but I want people to like it as well. It serves many uses - it will get us more traffic and it will get us more members in the long run.

I've updated the site once again, so please have a look at the main page as well as the Polish NT News and Ekstraklasa News and tell me what you guys think
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Apr 9, 2005, 6:33pm

ive just tapped in polishsoccer out of curiosity and i see the other site is still before us,is there no way of us being before them? its just that i think a lot of people will see theire site first and if youre a bit like me you will then think that this will do and not bother scrolling down to see what else if anything is on offer.not everyone will be like me but i just think that could be the reason why they keep getting regular new members and we are still waiting,i could be wrong but im pretty patient!
Re: Website
Post by Raf on Apr 9, 2005, 6:53pm

No no, I would do that same, first come first serve.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Apr 9, 2005, 7:04pm

its the lazy way but i think a lot of people would do that!
Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 9, 2005, 7:21pm

Once the site up things will be different, trust me. If people see we have more up-to-date news, they'll likely come to our site. The other forum had regular visitors everday. You have to remember people don't often look for 'polish soccer.' But sometimes 3-4 new visitors a day, and when there was a game or a few days before and after one, we'd have more than 10! We just need to be patient - build up the posts, I think the website will help create interest though, a lot.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 9, 2005, 7:28pm

Also wanted to mention one more thing, especially when we get the site up and running, I was hoping if you guys come across any interesting or relevant soccer news that Fender or I haven't posted that you could post it on the forum so we can be sure everything is covered. Then we can update the site with those news articles.

Usually I think we have all the latest stuff on here, but in case you notice something that isn't, please post it. If you do though, be sure to include the link! It'd be much appreciated if you guys could do that if it isn't too much trouble- we just want to make sure we are up to date.
Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Apr 9, 2005, 7:48pm

You guys might not think a website is necessary, but consider this:

Most of our vistors had one page view or less. Wonder why? Probably they saw a forum and they were looking for something else - soccer news maybe? I have a stong suspicion that is why we have been losing out on people. If we are in the top 3, hell - top 5 results, we will be okay.

The only time people spent time on our forum was when there was a match going on or that around the time of a match. Other than that they were in and out within a minute most of the time. A main site is what we desperately need, no question about it.
Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Apr 9, 2005, 8:06pm

just wanted to let you guys know we got a new host now with an easier to remember domain and more space. I am submitting the new domain to search engines, the new url:

http://polishsoccer.100free.com
Re: Website
Post by Raf on Apr 9, 2005, 9:30pm

Hey, don`t know if this counts, but we were the first to have the story told by Boniek about the Pope, the other forum just wrote about it today as did other Polish sites. ;D
Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 9, 2005, 11:27pm

Those stories are great too. If you happen to see a good story we don't have see if you can make a thread, you don't have to post much, just posting the link and a simple title so we know what it's about - will be more than appreciated!
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Apr 10, 2005, 5:02am

just noticed under my last posts the date is back to front, instead of it saying 10-4-05 it says 4-10-05,any ideas ???
Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Apr 10, 2005, 5:05am

If you want to change the way the date/time looks, go in your profile, and if you scroll down a bit there is a date/time format, change it to what you like, it should fix it.

Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Apr 11, 2005, 1:00pm

on the contrary, there are more now. If you look to the left of the reply box there is a drop down box that says ''select a smilie'' and below that a link that says ''see all smilies'', if you want to add one click on the see all smilies and just pick which one you want to use

Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 17, 2005, 2:45am

well uh we had about 54 unique visitors today. the problem is all the visitors aren't polish, nor are they even soccer fans. so it'll take a bit of luck for us to get a polish soccer fan. but the more visitors we get, the better chance of finding one!

I am workin on figuring out the damn stupid smiley thing!!!

I made the news articles very brief and added a link below each one to the appropriate thread in this forum to encourage members to join. Tell me what you guys think, the site is at:

www.polishsoccer.s19.net

please take a minute to have a look through it
Re: Website

Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 21, 2005, 1:50am

man I'm getting a bit discouraged, we get traffic - not a lot - but no one ever joins - whether it is this forum or the other. I won't give up but I sure feel like it. What are we missing?
Re: Website

Re: Website

indeed, the sad thing is if people only knew, we'd probably end up better than them other sites

I've been playin with some colours and images, and I guess you can call this one a test forum. Let me know what you think of it and whether or not ours should look like it:

Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 24, 2005, 3:46pm

Yea I am almost wondering whether we should have made the change. You know that other forum gets visitors regularly, at least 2 off google a day. Man I hate to think we made a mistake cuz I really like this place but am starting to doubt how well it will do the job for us
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Apr 24, 2005, 5:20pm

we gota do something guys,us 3 is not a lot of people at the moment
Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 24, 2005, 6:16pm

I really like this forum and I want it to work, real bad. So what I've done in an attempt to get more traffic here is I have made a pop-up on the old forum so that everytime you visit the site or any page on the site you will see a pop up asking you to visit this site. I am hoping this will bring us some more traffic.

Right now though I don't know what we can do

Re: Website

Aside from Google, we are getting some good results from MSN and Yahoo searches, some visitors through them too. You'd be surprised but we have quite a few regular visitors as well - it's beyond me though why no joining though despite the interest.
Re: Website
Post by admin on May 5, 2005, 12:47am

wooot, we are improvin our google ranks, we are now the first one on page 4, let's hope we can find our way to page 1, a big improvement after just yesterday being on page 12 or 13 I think it was, let's hope!

Re: Website

Some good news: go to msn.com, search for 'polish soccer', we are ranked very well!, and the good thing is that search engine is probably almost as popular as google!
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on May 22, 2005, 4:15pm

Re: Website
Post by zuraw on May 23, 2005, 2:44am

I'm sure they have plenty of visitors, but that site doesn't have much really, so I doubt many will stay. It is a mystery sometimes why some sites are as high as they are
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on May 23, 2005, 3:21pm

that site is dead, its shit! suppose we can only get stronger and better, just need a few people to join us

Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Jul 3, 2005, 12:57am

It may be that there was less traffic today. This is a big weekend for Canada and the USA - they both celebrating their respective birthdays so lots of people are likely not online but have things to do. I've noticed we did not get as much traffic today as we normally do. If next week the problem is gone then it is likely gone, but at this point I think it is because the traffic has gone down temporarily.

Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Jul 12, 2005, 3:47am

Wanted to point out one thing re: the shoutbox below.

Currently there is a maximum of 50 users that can be registered for it (what this means is that if you register your name no one can use that name - you'll need a password to enter posts but as long as you are remembered you shouldn't have to do it more than once per visit - not sure if even that much. You can also choose a different colour for your username instead of the typical white that everyone gets). Anyway if anyone wants to reserve a nick then let neo or I know and we can have it done for you.
Re: Website

Re: Website

as you know im on kibice i was wondering if there was any possibility i could use some of these smilies on our site,we have some but theres a few good ones i wouldnt mind using on there.if i could how would i go about doing this?
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 25, 2005, 5:48pm

Probably be easiest to copy the url properties of the smilies. So if you open up the smilies box right click the smilie you want, choose properties, and that is the url address you want.
Then when posting on the kibice site you would post it the way you would a picture, with the IMG tags and the url inbetween.

If I were you I'd just copy the address of the ones you use most onto a notepad or something so that way you don't have to keep coming back to copy the address each time.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 26, 2005, 2:21am

so how bout some feedback on the ticker - good/bad? useful/not? too small? too slow/fast?

Re: Website

If you're referring to the archives you ain't seen nothing yet. I am workin on the stats and you'll see some more interesting stuff there. You can't believed how hard it was for FB and I to find Euro qualifying stats, astonishing that the other supposed Polish Soccer sites don't even bother with an in-depth history of the team. Should help bring in more traffic as well.

Re: Website
Post by admin on Aug 23, 2005, 3:24am

I should have pointed out you still login under your original name. Unfortunately there is no changing that. You could of course see the problem though - if someone changes there name to the same thing as someone else you can't have the same 2 logins. This is why I advise you to login once and to choose login ''forever'' so this way you won't have to worry about remembering your old name ;)

its long, but some times they dont even show the full url,but im fine ill just stick w/ ali for now
Re: Website
Post by admin on Oct 22, 2005, 9:43pm

do this:

1. Save the picture onto your computer
2. If you don't already - make an account on www.photobucket.com
3. Upload the picture onto photobucket
4. Use the URL photobucket gives you for that photo

Sometimes if it is too long it won't work, it is best to save it onto your computer and upload it yourself.
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Oct 23, 2005, 9:44am

ill try that next time, thanks

Re: Website
Post by admin on Oct 26, 2005, 3:43am

I have been thinking maybe we should change the background instead of the eagle and PZPN but not sure what to change it to...any suggestions?
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Oct 26, 2005, 2:16pm

what about one big eagle in the background or are you trying to get away from that!just a thought quickly!
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Oct 26, 2005, 3:54pm

i think u should change it, i like a change now and then, suprise us.

Re: Website
Post by admin on Oct 27, 2005, 3:26am

okay you guys are not being very helpful - ted it's not that I am trying to get away from something I just would like to maybe do something better - but do any of you guys know where I could get some nice (and preferably big) images that I could maybe use for the wallpaper? The biggest problem I have is the images I have are pretty small so if I used them I could only do wallpaper as it is now because stretching it out would look horrible.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Oct 27, 2005, 3:35pm

not to sure on that one mate, havent got anything in the locker as such im afraid
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Oct 27, 2005, 3:36pm

google images,is what I use for the pic by ur name.
Re: Website
Post by zuraw on Oct 31, 2005, 4:40am

so you guys ain't got much to offer in terms of ideas to help us out? should it be just of the logos, maybe something involving our squad and the players?
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Oct 31, 2005, 10:02pm

the squad and players.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Nov 1, 2005, 3:52pm

what do you think FB out of curiosity? why dont you if you have any ideas between you and szym post them and do a poll to see what everyone thinks then you would get a better idea of what the members think.just a idea [image]
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Nov 1, 2005, 5:32pm

thats not a bad idea, but the other members dont post that much.
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Nov 1, 2005, 5:46pm

How about trying to change the color for the background. Insted of haveing the eagles white and the background red, switch it up and have the eagles red and the background white.

yo poll1 youre getting mighty close to FB totall, keep up the good work mate!now if we could only get at least another 6 or 7 more reuglar posters! ah well we plod on,im sure they will come [image]
Re: Website
Post by admin on Nov 9, 2005, 7:53pm

as with this I have fallen behind, hopefully I can get something done today, must say I am still thinking of a good idea, but the big images are not quite effective since the forum will cover them up, so will likely use the smaller wallpaper images that we already have
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Nov 10, 2005, 4:15pm

was transfers and rumours put in today or am i going daft [image]
Re: Website

Re: Website

what you want to do is go under 'Profile' and change the 'Display Name', it's in the FAQ too, so is most of the stuff you can change.

Re: Website
Post by admin on Dec 24, 2005, 2:08pm

there is only 2 sites really if you look at it. But one of them (.net) is realistically dead. We do get a number of visitors and since we started in April (9 months it will be in the end of December) have got 54 members at this point. Unfortunately few active ones. But given the world cup is coming up I think we will have a good opportunity to only get much much bigger!

Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 13, 2006, 3:07pm

As ted knows I always make changes. I was gonna change the background and was thinking of a few things and tried them out (namely, different colours) but they didn't blend well with what we had. It looks its best on a red background, so even if I were to change it it wouldn't be much different, that's not to say it won't happen though, I just haven't had any ideas. Any suggestions?

Re: Website
Post by admin on Feb 8, 2006, 5:23pm

Not sure if Fifero will post, but an interesting idea came to me

Since we always have arguments and they are inevitable maybe we should devote a special forum to trash-talking, especially since Wisla-Legia stuff always spills over into other threads. Instead of polluting other forums and threads with arguments we can allow them all in one area - we'll call it: the Petty Arguments forum
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Feb 8, 2006, 5:47pm

thats a great idea szym,im happy with that [image] saves polluting the rest of the threads, probably be the only thread where fiffi will post on :laughing2:
Re: Website
Post by admin on Feb 8, 2006, 7:14pm

Ted I think YOU will have quite a few posts in that area, just on Wisla alone [image]
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Feb 8, 2006, 11:56pm

I say do it, one question, will we be able to swear on it? because we all know its no fun without swearing. [image]
Re: Website
Post by admin on Feb 9, 2006, 2:20am

Come on man, you guys are better than that. You don't need cursing to make for some fun debates do you? The reason I put the filters on is to discourage it, because it wouldn't look terribly good for visitors to see people arguing and cursing one another out. May make us seem a little childish or immature.

The forum wouldn't be to argue personally with people, but as I said, trash-talk. Either why you think your team is so great, or why you think your team could whoop some other team. That way we can stick all the arguments there.

Rule #2 would not apply to that forum only - that rule pertains to baiting or flaming, which just means not trying to pick fights or start arguments. But since the forum would be designed for it, that kind of stuff would be permitted.

I'll set it up, could make for an interesting experiment.
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Feb 9, 2006, 4:19pm

i was only kidding about the cursing.

Anyway I have put the friendlies all on the calendar and will update them with any information regarding the time, any TV broadcasting the match, as well as radio or anything else.

Also, if anyone wants to add any entries to the calendar you can feel free to do so by clicking on the 'Calendar' link at the top of the page. If you do add anything please make it a reasonable title as if it is in the current month it will show up on the main page above the 'Users Online' section.

Re: Website
Post by cieszyn on Apr 10, 2006, 11:27pm

I don't think, it is correct to say Poland's two worst World Cup showings are 2002 and 1986 on the world cup stats page http://atari699.proboards43.com/index.cg....read=1123366715 ; when it seems that they still advanced in 1986; even if they lost that game rather badly. http://atari699.proboards43.com/index.cg....2512792&page=23

"WORST Performance: 1986 or 2002"

Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 11, 2006, 2:49am

I think you're reading much more into that than what it is really saying. That doesn't mean our worst performance as a team came in those years but scoring wise it was one of our worst. Obviously 2002 is one of the biggest disappointments, I doubt many would argue.

I wouldn't dare try to rank our World Cups as a whole since it is entirely subjective to do so and I doubt anyone would be old enough to recall all of them anyway (unless all were on tape somehow - although I doubt the early ones would be).
Re: Website
Post by admin on Apr 11, 2006, 1:05pm

I will be coming back full force on Thursday (my exams will be over by then) and I will do a lot of updating on the stats. I will get an archive of all our friendlies played (as far back as possible). Probably not much for details as to goalscorers as it's hard to find a place that has that information documented. But at the very least it will show how we have done in friendlies, any trends, who we do best against, home/away, and anything else I can possibly think up. So stay tuned! :tv:
Re: Website

good luck with the exams mate, never did like them when i was at school 8-)
Re: Website
Post by cieszyn on Apr 11, 2006, 10:14pm

Good luck on the exams; too, videos was brought up in one post; I have no idea how this guy deals these videos; http://www.raresoccervideos.com/ ; I don't know, if there is a cost; you know how it works, another fellow on the web makes "trades"; but if there was a game one really wanted, this seems to be the place to go. Video format, how is that? It differs between England and the USA; and everyone except me, has a DVD nowadays anyway.

Just pay attention to your exams; and don't worry about the website; Tedski will hold the fort down!!

Re: Website

And Ted not every thing works out in life the way you want too. As long as it was a good decision and you are happy that is good, I totally understand you loving that woman but if you two don't see eye to eye well then nothing will work. On the other note woman are trouble, you are single now and could have more time for your self, do the things you wanted to do but did not while being with her. There is a lot of women out there for you just chose wisely now. :) [image] :D ;D >:( :( :o 8-) ??? ::) [image] :-[ :-X :-/ :-* :'( this is what they do to you.

AND TO ALL YOU GUYS OUT THERE IT IS ALWAYS OUR FAULT NO METER WHAT. :) ;) :D ;D
Re: Website

Made 2 changes:

1) The smilies on the left are a bit easier to use as now you can see a preview of the smilie from the drop down you select.

2) I got rid of putting people to the last page of a thread automatically. I noticed this was happening to guests and that may cause confusion to some people why they are all of a sudden in the middle of a thread.

Re: Website
Post by boltonski on May 29, 2006, 4:50pm

i know youve already hit on this szym but we have a lot of threads relating to the same thing so when the finals start i was thinking rather then having x amount of threads on 1 topic you as a mod could stop a lot of topics regarding whatever and try and keep them all on to one thread so that way we dont end up replying to basically the same question in 3or4 different threads, makes it easier for all concerned.what say boss?
Re: Website
Post by admin on May 29, 2006, 5:02pm

I try to do that anyway, I haven't noticed too many of these though. Are there threads like this still open that you feel are of the same variety?

I must admit I don't look at the thread as a whole and reply to individual posts. But actually ted, since we have been growing and likely will continue to do so we could use another mod (since FB is never on and doesn't really want a role), would you be interested?
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on May 29, 2006, 5:32pm

yes i would be interested but you must enlighten me as to what it entails etc.......pm if its easier for you.dzieki

Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 7, 2006, 2:55am

I've increased the default amount of threads per page from 20 to 30. Since there seems to be more activity a lot of threads get pushed on the 2nd page that people will not notice because of it. Also I've removed some of the stickied threads as I don't think some of them are too important anyway.

Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 12, 2006, 3:12am

I changed it a tad more as I noticed it was slowing certain things down. I have to be more careful and check things in both browsers as in IE it is not the same as FF.

But anyway, any problems or suggestions are welcome. How about this for a question: Should the Shoutbox be put ONLY on the main page? I'm asking this because I wonder how many people use it when browsing forums or threads (my guess is not many). Removing the shoutbox from certain pages will make for faster loading times. Then again some people may not see a problem with the load times as it is. Please let me know :)

And even further, we can also do the same for the header that has the countdown clock and match schedule. Your input is appreciated!
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 13, 2006, 12:57am

Ok so it appears no one answered me....so I decided to make the change anyway (I can always change it back though). Do you find the pages loading faster? Prefer the way it was? Please someone let me know...
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 13, 2006, 1:01pm

its fine, i like it all the same.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jun 13, 2006, 3:12pm

the pages are definately loading faster so i vote for it to stay like this [image]
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 15, 2006, 10:01pm

I dont know if anyone else has this problem but under "the site" forum there is always a rotaiting ball next to it even where there is no new posts, ive noticed this for about a week now but never said anything about it.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 15, 2006, 11:03pm

That usually happens because there are posts somewhere still as unread. If you just look at the most recent posts that won't recognize it as read. But if it says new but you look and you've already seen it, just click on the 'mark as read' button at the top of the forum when you or on 'The SIte'
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 16, 2006, 12:33pm

i already did that 5 times and its still there. I dont really care though it dosent really bother me.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 16, 2006, 2:42pm

It must be something with your cookies....do you use another browser you can test this on? And also, do you have to login every time you come onto the site or does it remember you?
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 16, 2006, 10:20pm

umm, what r cookies? and wat about my browser? I dont log on at all i just clicked forever and it always brings me strait to the site.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 16, 2006, 10:49pm

It may be the settings with the browser, that's why I was wondering if you could try a different browser to check if it has the problems too. Cookies are things that remember where you went but if you don't need to login it sounds like that isn't the problem. I'm going to look in further but any more details you can give the better...
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 18, 2006, 2:13am

Did you try using the 'mark as read' button on the main page or just for the individual board??
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 18, 2006, 11:01am

yes, and nothing
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 18, 2006, 12:07pm

Which browser?
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 19, 2006, 12:43pm

both, i tried a few individual that i have posted last but still nothing.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 19, 2006, 1:12pm

This is odd...I have heard it may be a bug but it doesn't make sense as it seems it is only happening to you so far. Every browser I have works fine and doesn't come across this problem at all.
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 20, 2006, 8:58pm

idk, maybe i did something wrong
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 20, 2006, 9:26pm

Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jun 21, 2006, 11:39am

no, ill try!
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 22, 2006, 12:28am

Let me know if it helps.

Sorry for all the locked threads lately guys but we want to keep this place more organized and if we just talk about anything anywhere it does not look very good. We are trying to fix some bad habits of going off-topic in every thread it seems. If you go off-topic in the off-topic section that's not really a problem since it is off-topic.

Normally I'll just ask you to stay on topic but if it is an old match thread or something not really important I'll just lock it altogether. It's okay if you stray off a little but if you can start a separate topic about what you are talking about altogether then...well you probably should.

Lastly, although our next match is against Denmark, that doesn't mean we need match threads up already. I've already closed 2. The reason for this is that if they are started too early then most of the posts will be completely irrelevant and the discussion would be better suited in a different thread. A week or two before the match is fine, or when there is information about the match released (i.e. the squad has been announced) is an ideal time to start such threads.

If you guys have any questions about why something was locked or disagree with it please PM me. I don't want to discourage people, I just want to encourage people to post in the appropriate areas, it'll make the place look a lot more organized :)
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jun 22, 2006, 3:06pm

perfectly good and valid points, just basic common knowledge really guys,i have in the past babbled on about things in the wrong place and it does just mess the whole thread up so lets keep it all where it belongs, after all when youve been shopping you wouldnt put toilet paper in the freezer would you,get my drift :)by the way apologies for not being on as much recentley, been working late so not really had much time to post when i get home, wont be for ever though :)

Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jun 24, 2006, 2:56pm

strimm gardens and edges, clear gardens out, clear houses out,do needle sweeps thats looking for needles from drug users who have been using that property and board up houses that are not being used so to prevent mindless morons going in and trashing them or using them as a squat.job can be dirty sometimes but other times is a piece of cake, varies from day to day and town to town, pays not to bad so cant complain as we get work sheets in the morning and just go out and do the job,no bosses on youre back so as long you do a certain amount of jobs they are happy with it.
Re: Website

that sounds kind of like a scary job, r most of these towns all drug towns and crap.

sorry
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 27, 2006, 9:18pm

No worries, I just noticed that thread had dropped ;)
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jun 28, 2006, 4:44am

The rumours thread I've decided might be better left with all rumours (Ekstraklasa, Polish players abroad, and international leagues as well). Ted's Bellamy thread got me thinking it's probably best to put all rumours in one place, the only problem with ted's is that it wasn't a rumour anymore as it was official. However if it is a rumour regarding any league or player, it is to go there.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 7, 2006, 9:04pm

Sorry guys but I'm going to clean up some of the stickies by deleting posts in them as they've strayed off into other topics in themselves and it again doesn't look very organized. If you have questions about the site or anything to do with it you can ask those questions in this area by making a thread or looking for the appropriate thread.

What ever happened to the "posts per day" thing in the profile section???
Re: Website

just curious, does this websire cost any money to run?
Re: Website
Post by rafal on Jul 12, 2006, 9:34pm

i really doubt it does. because i had an account on the proboards thing and you can make forums for free.
Re: Website
Post by borczyk on Jul 12, 2006, 9:56pm

cool
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 12, 2006, 10:10pm

Yea, most forums don't cost anything. But this is only half of what I want though. Either I have to find someone to do the HTML or I must learn it myself (not too crazy about that) to get the site I want. When the new year comes I'll be working and taking time of school so I think that is the point where more drastic changes will come as I'll have more time to have those things done.
Re: Website

what ever happened to the POSTS PER DAY thing?
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 12, 2006, 10:57pm

It is back now. I took it out before as there were complaints that pages were loading slowly so I tried to look for ways to make it load quicker, but it looks like it is better now.

well wherever you go with this forum..take us with you friend....
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 13, 2006, 12:14am

One of the advantages of a forum like this is that if a site were ever to go down, people could always go to the forum's separate site. Having the site and forum on two different servers I see as an advantage. Right now we are with only one though, but hopefully that will change soon.
Re: Website
Post by borczyk on Jul 13, 2006, 12:33am

if there is anything i can do to help, by all means let me know friend
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 13, 2006, 2:34am

I just want people's honest opinions and suggestions - I'd actually prefer criticism over compliments as it gives me something to work at! If there is something that you find annoying, something you would like that we don't have, I want to know it all. Because there are likely others who will benefit from it. I don't like it when people have no suggestions and just say everything is fine. I always like to try and improve. But aside from that just happy posting :)
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 13, 2006, 3:25am

I got rid of those lines before a post and before the sig - kind of annoyed me -- better now or worse or no difference to you ??
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jul 13, 2006, 11:37am

i kind of liked those lines better, it seems empty.
Re: Website

Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 13, 2006, 3:26pm

Ok well later I will try adding them back but using a reddish colour so that it fits better in with the skins, then we can revisit how it looks.
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 16, 2006, 7:37pm

Guys have a look at the test forum below:

here

I was wondering whether you like the idea of getting rid of the tables (in the profile to the left) and go for a simpler look and instead have a bigger avatar (200x200) maximum? It would make for quicker loading...up to you guys though as I could go either way.
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jul 16, 2006, 10:11pm

dident we have it like that before, i kind of like this way better, my comp loads just fine so i like it how it is!
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 16, 2006, 10:28pm

The main reason I'm thinking about it is because of all the white space that fills up a post after only a one sentence response because the profile on the left stretches it out.
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Jul 16, 2006, 10:46pm

I have a question about the Germany 2006 bored, are we gonna get rid of it now that the WC is done w/ and make a euro 2008 bored or will we keep it for the next WC?
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 16, 2006, 11:00pm

LOL keep it for 4 years?? Nooo way. I'm gonna put it in the archives when the time is right. But since there are still some threads in there that are related to the WC I don't want to close it yet. When that board has died down or when the aftermath of the World Cup comes to an end, then the board will be gone.

I don't know if there is at this point much a reason to make a board for Euro until the tournament actually arrives as most of the things discussed in that board would be related to qualifying and would probably see a lot of overlap between it and the NT board which is why it probably doesn't serve too much a purpose to make another board.

Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 23, 2006, 1:56pm

I really hate the old way...so much unnecessary space. But I'll let others weigh in before deciding which way to go.
Re: Website
Post by rafal on Jul 23, 2006, 8:16pm

i think the old way is much nicer
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jul 24, 2006, 3:49am

On a side note, a few changes to the 'modify' and 'delete' post features. I've gotten rid of the line that says last edited by so and so and such and such a time. However, on the stipulation that a person only has 1/2 hour to modify or delete their post.

I didn't care for that line at the bottom of the posts but at the same time people could abuse it to alter arguments later without people seeing proof of the changes so this seems like a fair balance as it allows people to make changes to mistakes without having anyone know. (It also does not look good if people delete posts well after a period of time as it creates a bit of confusion as to what people were replying to, which is a reason why I wanted to do this. I'm not crazy about people deleting posts, but at least this keeps it under control).

Most people don't edit their posts after an extended period of time anyway. But if anyone sees a reason why this should not be changed or would like to see something else instead, feel free to say so here.

Re: Website

Re: Website

Did you clear cache and cookies?
Re: Website
Post by pol1 on Aug 16, 2006, 4:50pm

idk most likely cookies
Re: Website
Post by admin on Aug 16, 2006, 5:01pm

Clearing Cache and Cookies:

Using Internet Explorer:

1. On the Internet Explorer 6 Tools menu, click Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, click the Delete Files button and the Delete Cookies button. That will clear both cache and cookies.

3. Close down the browser completely and try running it again. Sometimes it takes into affect after you reboot.

Using Firefox:

1. Select Tools from the top menu, and Options from the drop down list.

2. Click the Privacy button in the left (will be on top menu for newer versions) menu.

3. To clear your cookies, select Cookies from the Privacy list (or the Cookies tab for the newer version), and then click the Clear button.

4. To clear your cache, select Cache from the Privacy list (or the Cache tab for the new version), and then click the Clear button.

5. Same as step 3 for Internet Explorer.

Re: Website
Post by admin on Aug 18, 2006, 6:44pm

I am slowly updating the stats and archives. A bit much so am gonna take a break from it all. But thankfully the end is in sight :)
Re: Website
Post by admin on Aug 26, 2006, 9:41pm

Changed the default skin to red, the layout of the news and match info as well. Also re-implemented the go to last new post feature - meaning if you click on any thread it will either go to the last unread post or the last page.

Any feedback as always is appreciated.

Re: Website

Once I get it how I like I will work on the buttons next. I've also made a change to the 'quote' feature. When you click on the quote button now it will show above the reply box instead of being included in it (unless you hit the 'modify' or 'preview' button - then it returns to normal).

Re: Website

I am happy to see we are getting a lot more variety of people contributing. The Portugal game seemed to spark some interest. Although we have a core of several regular posters, there are a few infrequent ones that are starting to come more often. Very encouraging and promising :)

Everyone has to start somewhere ;)

I have gotten rid of the 'Contact Icons' box in the profile, instead I have pushed them into the signature. Trying to look for ways to save space any way that I can.
Re: Website

Inserted a red separator in between posts so it is easier to see where one ends and the other begins - good, or is it too much red now?

I feel the same way man. There is no one on here that I don't like. Kind of surprising how well people get along, not usually the case on many sites.

I'm going to have to disagree. I don't see much loyalty between Polish people, it's kind of sad but if anything I would expect them to fight instead of get along. That's why I'm kind of surprised at how well things are here, believe me, it is not the case on other sites - Polish or not.

Re: Website

Under international I have put a sub-board for scores and news. Just trying it out for now, not sure if it is necessary or not? Let me know what you guys think.
Re: Website
Post by pierko on Dec 19, 2006, 4:16pm

I like the score board thing at the bottom of some of the pages, it's pretty cool, but shouldn't it be on every page?
Re: Website
Post by admin on Dec 19, 2006, 4:27pm

I'm going to put it on every board but right now I'm not sure I'm gonna keep that one, and still not setup how I like. Not sure if to put it on the main board though, as it may be too cluttered.
Re: Website
Post by pierko on Dec 19, 2006, 4:28pm

Put it on all except the main board then. I like being able to look at the scores while talking on here

Re: Website
Post by admin on Dec 19, 2006, 7:24pm

Alright, it is on. Let me know what you guys think, or if there is something that you don't like about it. One of the reasons I like it is because you can see who scored quickly by clicking on the score but at the same time if you change the refresh rate...it is not a permanent one...so I'm not sure if this one is a keeper or not yet.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Dec 22, 2006, 5:49pm

Re: Website

If you go to the testing board there is a 'Chat' link that opens up a small chat box. Try it out and let me know what you think.

um just wanted to say...see those updates at the bottom of the page they dont always work... like somrtimes the match ended like 2 hours ago and its says NS (i think it means not started) but if doesnt then what does it mean?
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jan 12, 2007, 2:41pm

just looking at west rom v luton,15min to kick off so im presuming it means not started as you said
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 12, 2007, 5:49pm

Yea I've noticed it by off by a few hours...might have to see how consistent it is or isn't before deciding to look for another.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jan 13, 2007, 4:16pm

yeah just had a look szym and youre right, most games finished over 4.5 hrs ago but it states that they are in the 54minute :o
Re: Website
Post by pierko on Jan 13, 2007, 9:11pm

Wow, he's right
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jan 14, 2007, 5:33am

saying that i was watching the west brom v luton game on friday night whilst being on here and west brom scored right at the end of the match so i went on to the score updates at the bottom to see how long it would take for the goal to come up and it was there within a minute of the goal going in so pretty accurate on friday evening!
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 15, 2007, 2:06am

I'm gonna see if I can't find another one. It's a shame because not only does it blend well with our site, it's easy to see who scored without an annoying pop up. The only other thing I don't like is the refreshing.

PS: Did anyone try out the chatroom on the Testing board?
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jan 15, 2007, 7:48am

just been in the chatroom, first time i have to admit :-[as i keep forgetting about it,maybe we should all agree on a set time to go in and see how we all do,i know we all have different time zones but what do you all think?
Re: Website
Post by pierko on Jan 15, 2007, 8:21pm

WE HAVE A CHATROOM? :o
Re: Website
Post by pierko on Jan 15, 2007, 8:25pm

I think it might be a little hard to agree on a set chat time, considering that we live in different parts of the world, and some of us have to work when others don't have to, and vice versa. That's my thought on it. Maybe if we had a link to it on the home page it would help a little?
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 15, 2007, 8:49pm

I wonder how possible it would be to all meet. It seems more likely to me that we'd probably be able to best meet on say Saturday morning - mid afternoon for those in Europe. 7am for me would be 10am for anyone on the East Coast, about 9am for the Chicago area, and roughly around 4pm for people like Ted. What do people think of those hours? Maybe a few hours back or a few hours forward?

I'm going to put up a link to the chatroom, but right now I just want to see what kind of room to use. I remember Borczyk had trouble with the last one we used.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jan 16, 2007, 4:18am

sounds good to me szym, lets see what the other guys think!as for getting in the chatroom i got in straight away,no problems at all.
PIERKO if you go on the opening page under the shout box info on the left hand side you will see it says chatroom,HAVE A LOOK AND SEE IF YOU CAN GET IN!
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 16, 2007, 4:38am

Yeah the one next to the shoutbox is the old one, seems like it is a bit more of a hassle to load. If people knew how to use mIRC it would be make things real easy, but we could just use a very simple format - for instance if you go on the testing board there is a very simple chat there.

-----

Also, in an effort to have something to look forward to each day I was thinking it might be a good idea to have some event for each day on the forum.

For instance: Saturday would be the weekly chatroom meeting.

Sundays will be for unveiling the post of the week, which will earn a promotional point to the person who contributes the best post to the forum during that week. I'll make a thread dedicated to this. Ted and I will alternate weeks - so one week he will choose the best, one week I will, and so on.

Mondays I will do my best to update the player updates thread with any scoring or player news of the past week.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday however are all vacant days. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas as to what we could do for those? Fridays maybe post the best link/game/time waster for that week (and I come across plenty ;) )

Anyway let me know if you guys have any ideas. Just looking for ways to make the place a bit more interesting.
Re: Website

Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 18, 2007, 5:47am

You should notice a 'Chatroom' button now up top. The one I've decided to use for now is sort of like an improved shoutbox...it automatically refreshes when there is a new post. Let me know what you guys think of the colours or if you think we should keep it. It doesn't have a list of who is online like a chatroom does but it does have a link that will show you who is currently online (there's a 'profile' link that will allow you to register your name).

Anyway let me know what you all think.
Re: Website
Post by boltonski on Jan 18, 2007, 12:49pm

looks ok,just spent 2min in there as im getting my lap top set upagain, just got it back so fingers crossed no more breaking down!
Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 18, 2007, 1:03pm

I think it works better as a popup...a bit more convenient. I've made you a mod on there as well now. So you'll see an option to delete posts and ban people. Be careful though, it only takes one click to ban someone....heheh...banning made easy ;)

Oh and in other news...ummm....let's just say a change I've been wanting to do for a long time will finally be coming :)

Re: Website
Post by admin on Jan 19, 2007, 1:30am

I know I've let this go for 39 pages...but I mean this one thread has taken over this entire board. So I'm going to close it, and instead, if you have questions/comments about a certain item, make a thread. As this has become sort of a dump for anything and everything related to the site.
Re: Website
